- Well Pet Care and vaccinations with emphasis on preventative
medicine.
- Complete diagnostic testing - blood work, urinalysis, heart
monitoring, cytology, cultures, biopsies

Our emphasis is on preventative medicine to help your
pet live a longer, happier life. Mobile Cat & Dog Vet can provide
most of the services performed by your local clinic, but Dr. Hays will
refer you to an area hospital if your pet needs to be hospitalized, for
some surgeries, or for emergencies.
We are not equipped to handle true emergencies. Please
be familiar with the daytime and after hour veterinary care facilities
closest to your home in case of emergency. If you are unsure of the
closest facilities, let me know and I can assist you in locating them.
Advantages
Using a mobile veterinarian service has many
advantages. Some of these advantages include:
-
Less stress for you and your pet. Car rides may be
very stressful for many pets, especially cats. Also, many pets
become fearful and stressed upon entering a veterinary hospital. It
is easier to get an accurate picture of your pet’s condition when
he or she is relaxed at home. Mobile veterinary care can also be
less stressful for you, the owner. We eliminate the problems of
loading pets into carriers and cars, driving them to the clinic,
waiting to see a vet and driving home. That means less wasted time
for you.
-
One on one attention with the vet. Most veterinary
hospitals schedule appointments every 15 minutes. Our appointments
run 30 to 45 minutes, sometimes longer depending on the situation.
We want to take the time to thoroughly evaluate your pet in his or
her environment, as well as answer all of your questions.
-
All pets in the household may be seen in one visit.
This is very helpful for multi-pet households.
-
Less exposure to contagious diseases and external
parasites like fleas. This is especially important for very young
patients as well as immune compromised patients.
Although mobile veterinary services has many advantages
we do have some limitations:
-
We don’t provide emergency services. Time is very
important in an emergency. Due to the nature of the area we cover
and the traffic in the Austin area we cannot handle emergencies.
Please know the location of the nearest daytime and after hours
veterinary hospitals, if you have questions about this please let me
know and I can assist you in locating facilities.
-
Orthopedic and some soft tissue surgeries will be
referred to surgeons who have specialized training and facilities.
-
Our practice is limited to dogs and cats. I will be
happy to provide referrals for other types of pets.
